MENTAL HEALTH & MANAGING STRESS

Tobacco use doesn't just affect your physical body. It can also lead to chronic mental health problems.

DEALING WITH THE STRESS OF QUITTING

  • Many tobacco users claim that they continue to smoke, vape or chew for stress relief. But did you know that tobacco is actually proven to cause more stress?
  • Nicotine only provides a short-term relief that doesn't address the root of your stress. In fact, the only stress you're relieving is caused by withdrawals from the tobacco itself.
  • Try to find a stress management technique that works for you and isn't damaging to your health. What works for someone else may not be what works for your addiction.

Here are a just few alternative suggestions from the American Heart Association
